Officers from various law enforcement agencies carried out a search warrant at the home of Khalil Stewart, 18, in Orange on Wednesday, Feb. 19, Hanover police said in a news release.

Stewart was taken into custody after they found a handgun possibly linked to an armed robbery at a hotel in December 2019, authorities said.

Pierre Marcelin Jr., 18, of West Orange was also targeted in the investigation, stemming from the December robbery. He was arrested in Newark on Feb. 25.

Last December, police issued a press release saying a man and some friends were at a party in a hotel room when three black males entered and began yelling at everyone.

One of the men pulled out a handgun and told everyone to stay where they were and not move, police said.

The three men proceeded to take a pair of shoes from the alleged victim, and a belt from another party guest, police said.

"They also took a can of unknown contents prior to leaving the room," authorities in Hanover said.

Both men were being held at the Morris County Jail pending court appearances, on charges of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Stewart was also charged with four counts of aggravated assault.
